Overview

Embark on a journey from La Paz northwest across the Altiplano, where the imposing Royal Andean Range and the picturesque Titicaca Lake unfold before you at the arrival to Copacabana. Explore the impressive cathedral with whitewashed stone walls and a massive gold altarpiece adorned with silver leaves from the Potosi mines. Conclude the day with a walk to the summit of Calvary Hill for a breathtaking sunset view.

Next day we go by motorboat to the north side of Sun Island. Explore archaeological ruins like the Chinkana Labyrinth, Sacred Rock, and the “huellas del Inca” (traces of the Incas). Embark on a hike to the south side, reveling in the stunning landscapes of the Cordillera Real de Los Andes and Lake Titicaca. Arrive at the south side, enjoy lunch at the hotel, and savor the beautiful sunset over Sun Island in the afternoon.

Next morning witness the sunrise and savor breakfast before a walk along the stone steps of Yumani, visiting the archaeological remains of the Temple of Pilkokaina. Next, take a motorboat to Moon Island, appreciating its archaeological wonders. Return to Copacabana, and from there, continue your journey to La Paz or Puno.

Itinerary

Embarking from La Paz, we head northwest across the Altiplano, offering stunning views of the majestic Royal Andean Range and the serene Titicaca Lake along the way. After a four-hour journey, we reach our hotel in Copacabana. Following lunch, we explore the impressive cathedral, featuring whitewashed stone walls, multiple domes adorned with deep blue tiles, and a remarkable gold altarpiece embellished with silver leaves from the Potosi mines. Subsequently, we ascend Calvary Hill to witness a breathtaking sunset before returning to the hotel.

Following breakfast at 8:00 a.m., we embark on a motorboat journey to the north side of Sun Island. Here, we explore archaeological ruins like the Chinkana Labyrinth, Sacred Rock, and the "huellas del Inca" (traces of the Incas). Subsequently, we commence a hike toward the south side of Sun Island, offering breathtaking views of the stunning landscapes of the Cordillera Real de Los Andes and Lake Titicaca along the way. Upon reaching the south side, we head to our hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, indulge in the captivating beauty of the sunset that Sun Island has to offer.
